CHICAGO, Illinois, November 2. THE Mid-Continent Conference named Eastern Illinois' Bill Senese and Oakland's Sophia Gustafsson its Athletes of the Week on Wednesday.
Senese earned Athlete of the Week accolades after leading the Panthers to a 123-120 win over Evansville last Saturday. He swam first-place finishes in the 50 free (21.52) and 100 back (52.54), and swam the first leg in the first-place 200 relay squad. His time in the 100 back is a season high for the senior.
Gustafson received Athlete of the Week accolades after leading Oakland to a pair of victories last week in a tri-meet with Cincinnati and Wayne State. She took home first-place honors in both the 1000 free (10:25.24) and the 500 free (5:05.78), and finished in second place in the 200 fly (2:10.49). Her time in the 1000 free is the fastest in the conference this season.
