Millen, Raleigh Tabbed ACC Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week

GREENSBORO, North Carolina, October 31. AFTER helping their teams finish the week undefeated, John Millen of Virginia and Florida State's Christie Raleigh have been selected Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week in their respective divisions. Miller receives the league's weekly honor for the first time this season, while Raleigh has won the women's award for the third consecutive week.

Millen, who hails from Lilburn, Ga., posted three individual event victories as the Virginia men defeated ACC rivals Clemson 202-149, and Virginia Tech 206.5-146.5. The Cavaliers also defeated Penn State 229-124 in the Quad Meet, hosted by UVa over the weekend. The senior won the 1000 freestyle (9:19.30), 200 freestyle (1:39.31) and the 500 freestyle (4:28.04). His time in the 200 freestyle is tops in the ACC in the young season, while his marks in both the 500 and 1000 free rank second in the league.

Raleigh continues her stellar performance in the women's division, as the Toms River, N.J., native collected four individual event wins on the road to help the 14th-ranked Seminoles remain undefeated at 4-0 with wins at Miami, Florida Atlantic and Florida International. At Miami last Friday, she recorded NCAA "B" cut times in both the 50 freestyle (23.17) and 100 butterfly (55.05). The sophomore currently ranks at the top of the ACC in both of the events this season.

In Saturday's win over Florida Atlantic (187-112) and Florida International (245-51), Raleigh led the way as she added two more individual event wins for the week. She won the 50 free (23.43) and turned in an NCAA "B" cut time of 2:01.63 in the 200 fly. Raleigh was also part of two winning relay units in the 200 medley (1:46.36) and the 200 free (1:35.92).
