Clark, Raleigh Tabbed ACC Performers of the Week

GREENSBORO, North Carolina, October 24. DUKE'S Andrew Clark and Florida State's Christie Raleigh have been selected Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week in their respective divisions. Clark helped the Blue Devil men open the 2006-07 campaign with a victory over UNC Wilmington, while Raleigh was key to the FSU women's runner-up finish at the SMU Classic over the weekend.

A freshman from Owings Mills, Md., Clark posted two wins in his first collegiate meet on Saturday in Duke's 154-147 win over UNC Wilmington. He notched first-place finishes in the 500 and 1000 freestyle events, clocking times of 4:45.28 and 9:47.92, respectively, as the Blue Devils avenged last season's campaign-opening loss to UNC Wilmington. Clark finished nearly four seconds ahead of the second-place finisher in the 1000 freestyle, en route to contributing 22 points to Duke's final meet score.

Raleigh, who has earned league recognition for the second straight week, turned in another stellar performance as the FSU women finished in second place by just 10 points at the SMU Women's Classic last weekend. She won three individual events (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, and 100 butterfly) with NCAA "B" qualifying times of 23.13, 50.69 and 54.37, respectively. In the final event of the tournament, Raleigh teamed up with Kylsie Grimes, Lauren Brick and Romy Altmann in the 200 freestyle relay to take first place with a time of 1:34.16 and record valuable points for the Seminoles.
