Burchill Named Coach of Lancaster Aquatic Club
LANCASTER, Pennsylvania, October 2. TOM Burchill, formerly a head coach at Carmel Swim Club and Carmel High School in Carmel, Ind. has been hired as the head coach of the Lancaster Aquatic Club (LAC) in Lancaster, PA.
Burchill will take charge of LAC, a USA Swimming Silver Medal Club with a 51-year history on October 9. During a successful career at Carmel, Burchill led Carmel High School to three Indiana state titles and one national title. Prior to his time at Carmel, Burchill coached the Mt. Lebanon Aqua Club and Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, enjoying more than a decade of notable success, including Pennsylvania state age group and high school titles.
During this time, his fellow coaches voted him Allegheny Zone team coach four years in a row. Burchill, a native of western Pennsylvania, swam for Mt. Lebanon High School and the Mt. Lebanon Aqua Club. As a collegiate undergrad, he captained the University of Maryland swim team, continuing his education to earn an MBA from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. Burchill was a 2006 recipient of the NICSA David H. Robertson Excellence in Coaching Award.
