Reimer Joins UBC Dolphins

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, September 27. BRITTANY Reimer, the top female in the Canadian arsenal, will train this season with the UBC Dolphins. The Canadian-record holder in the 400, 800 and 1,500 freestyle events, Reimer followed a strong showing at the 2005 World Championships with a bronze medal in the 800 free at this year’s Commonwealth Games.

“I’m very excited about joining the Dolphins organization,” Reimer said. “The Dolphins swim program has a long track record of international successes and training side by side with many of the country’s top swimmers will provide a great environment for my preparation leading to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.”

At last year’s World Champs, held in Montreal, Reimer earned a silver medal in the 800 free and claimed bronze in the 1,500 free. She also secured a fourth-place finish in the 400 free. Reimer will train under coach Tom Johnson at the Canadian National Swim Center. She’s expected to make her debut for the Dolphins in a competition next month.
