Maurer Wins Women’s 25k at FINA World Open Water Championships

NAPOLI, Italy, September 2. ANGELA Maurer of Germany held on to win gold in the women’s 25k race at the fourth FINA World Open Water Championships held in Napoli, Italy on Saturday.

She closed out the marathon race with a time of 6:22:46.9 to touch out Russia’s Natalia Pankina. The Russian clocked a silver-medal time of 6:22:47.8, just .9 seconds behind the winner.

Pankina’s teammate Ksenia Popova rounded out the podium for bronze after stopping the clock in 6:22:51.3.

The fourth FINA World Open Water Championships will conclude on Sunday with the men’s edition of the 25k.
