The University of Southern California received a verbal commitment from Caitlin Tycz. Tcyz is from Brunswick, Maine and swims for Long Reach Swim Club.

Tycz told Swimming World,

“USC has been my dream school for so many years; I am excited and honored to be a Trojan next fall! The team, coaches, and academics are the perfect fit for me, and I’m looking forward to representing them. I can’t thank my family, coaches, teammates, and friends enough for everything they have done along the way.  Fight on!”

At YMCA Nationals last spring, while representing the Bath YMCA, Tycz set the YMCA National Record in the 100 butterfly, stopping the clock in 52.43. She then qualified for Olympic Trials in the same event. Tycz led Brunswick High School to the 2016 Maine Girls Class A State Championships last year. She dominated the 200 IM in a 2:06.23. In a 53.32 she knocked down the 100 butterfly state record and took gold. Tycz also anchored the 200 freestyle relay and the new state record setting 400 freestyle relay.

Her best times are:

  • 50 Fly 25.94
  • 100 Fly 52.43
  • 200 Fly 1:58.00
  • 50 Free 23.61

Tycz’s best butterfly times land her in Pac 12 scoring range. At the 2016 meet she would have been a 100 butterfly A finalist. Trojan seniors Kendyl Stewart and Lucy Worral represented the team in the A final. Hannah Weiss finished ninth (52.91) and will be a senior for Tycz’s freshman year. Tycz would fall in the middle of the B final for the 200 butterfly. Madison Wright (1:56.60) will be the returning leader in that event when Tycz moves to LA next fall.
