WSCA Fills Interim Board Positions for 2024

Led by the addition of Bill Sweetenham, the World Swimming Coaches Association announced the addition of three members to its current board, with all current and additional members serving through December 31, 2024.

Bill Sweetenham is one of the most highly regarded swimming coaches in history. He brings the highest level of coaching success in Australia, Great Britain, Hong Kong, and Singapore to the WSCA Board.

Sweetenham served as the Head Coach at five Olympic Games for three countries while coaching swimmers to lifetime-best performances at nine World Championships and eight Commonwealth Games. His coaching led to nine World Record holders in short and long-course competitions.

“As WSCA aims to serve coaches worldwide, Bill’s experience and success in Europe, Australia, and Asia brings invaluable experience and perspective to the board,” says WSCA President Dr. Jon Rudd.

Will Wang has been serving as a key WSCA advisor, building out WSCA Asia, and will now serve as a full Board member representing Asia through to the end of 2024. Wang has been the leader of coach education in the Asia region for the past decade, developing extensive coach education and training curriculum through numerous clinics in China and surrounding countries.

Coach Wang has over thirty years of extensive competitive swimming coaching experience. He has been highly involved in swim club performance-level group training and club development and has coached at one of the leading international schools in Shanghai.

Coach Wang has also established one of the fastest-growing swimming academies, which serves as the WSCA-Asia coach training base. Coach Wang’s coaching experience in both California and British Columbia led to Olympic Trial qualifiers, Provincial, State, and National champions, as well as PanAm Games Finalists.

Chris Morgan will serve the WSCA Board as the Subject Matter Expert for Open Water Swimming. Coach Morgan has extensive experience coaching pool and open-water swimming in the United States and Europe.

Chris Morgan brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the legendary Gator Swim Cub. Most recently, Morgan served as Head Coach of the YMCA of the North Shore and was the Varsity Assistant Coach for the Harvard Women’s Team before that. Morgan spent the 2011-12 as a member of the Stanford coaching staff, helping the Cardinal to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships.

Morgan coached in Switzerland from 1997-2011. His international coaching experience has also included the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, the 2010 European Championships in Hungary, the 2009 World Championships in Rome, the European Short Course Championships in Croatia in 2008 and in Hungary in 2007, and three World University Games in Thailand in 2007, Turkey in 2005 and South Korea in 2003. While coaching in Switzerland, Morgan earned a Master’s in Human Movement and Sport Science from the University of Geneva.
