USA Water Polo Announces Men’s Seven-Match Summer Series

USA Water Polo on Thursday announced a set of seven matches in California this season that serve to honor retiring Olympians.

The U.S. will play one match with China, then three-match series vs. Montenegro and Italy. All matches are available to stream via Overnght, with tickets available for sale here. Rosters will be announced at a later date.

The games will include ceremonies to honor the careers of Alex Bowen, Drew Holland and Alex Obert. Bowen and Holland recently announced their intentions to retire. Obert stepped away from the national team after the team won bronze at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

“It is bittersweet when retirement news comes along,” USA men’s national team head coach Dejan Udovicic said in a press release. “I have such appreciation for what these athletes helped our team accomplish and the commitment they showed to our program that ultimately resulted in an Olympic bronze medal. At the same time, they aren’t easily replaceable and their presence in the pool will be missed. I’m looking forward to honoring Bowen, Holland and Obert and I’m glad the USA Water Polo community will have a chance to say thank you in person this summer.”

The U.S. starts by playing China on June 12 at JSerra Catholic High School. Two weeks later, they embark on a three-game set with Montenegro in Southern California, culminating with the Bowen celebration in La Jolla on July 1.

The team shifts to Northern California on July 8 against Italy. Obert will be honored in Stockton on July 10, with Holland’s feting on July 12 at Stanford.
