Matching the announced change to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games event order, USA Swimming today announced an identical change to the event order of the upcoming U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming, which will be held June 15-23 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The shift updates the order of events for the June 19 and 20 evening sessions. On June 19, the women’s 200m butterfly semifinal and men’s 200m breaststroke semifinal will swap places, making the butterfly event the third race of the evening while the breaststroke event will be the seventh. On June 20, the men’s 50m freestyle semifinal will now be the third race of the evening (originally sixth), while the women’s 200m backstroke semifinal will be the fifth race of the evening (originally third).

“The schedule for Indianapolis will foster an ultra-competitive swimming environment and a fantastic spectator experience,” USA Swimming National Team Managing Director Lindsay Mintenko said in a press release. “The opportunity for our high-performance athletes to compete on a stage of this magnitude is inherent to their growth and development, in and out of the pool.”

After four straight Olympic Trials, dating back to 2008, in Omaha, the Trials shift to Indianapolis. It was also the location of the 1924 Olympic Trials, for a Games held in Paris that year. Trials will be held in the spacious setting of Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts.
