Texas Wins 200 Free Relay, Caeleb Dressel Smokes 18.24 Leadoff

While Texas picked up the men’s 200-yard free relay title to start the night, Florida’s Caeleb Dressel continued his ridiculous consistency with an 18.24 50-yard free leadoff at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships.

Texas’ Brett Ringgold (19.07), Joseph Schooling (18.53), Jack Conger (18.74) and John Murray (18.54) clocked in with a 1:14.88 for the win.  That’s Texas’ sixth victory ever in the event’s history.

They are the first team to repeat in this event since Auburn ran off four straight from 2006-09.

NC State’s Simonas Bilis (18.77), Joe Bonk (19.15), Andreas Schiellerup (18.89) and Ryan Held (18.28) cranked out a second-place time of 1:15.09, while Alabama’s Kristian Gkolomeev (18.92), Laurent Bams (19.22), Lucas Kaliszak (18.95) and Brett Walsh (19.07) placed third in 1:16.16.

Florida, led by the second-fastest 50 free of all time from Dressel (18.24), finished fourth by way of Dressel (18.24), Corey Main (19.43), Mark Szaranek (19.21) and Jack Blyzinskyj (19.33) putting up a 1:16.21.
