Texas Guys Turn In Several Quality Marks in Tuneup for Olympic Trials

Following a strong performance by Carson Foster in the 400-meter individual medley on Friday night, Texas athletes – college and professional – continued to produce solid marks on Saturday morning at the Texas Long Course Kickoff. The meet is serving as a tuneup for June’s United States Olympic Trials in Omaha.

Foster, a rising star on the American scene, added two more victories to his collection during the Saturday session, as he prevailed in the 200 freestyle (1:48.12) and topped the field in the 200 individual medley (2:00.34). He was followed in second place in the 200 freestyle by teammate Drew Kibler (1:48.58), who later won the 50 freestyle in 22.59. Jake Foster gave his family a top-two sweep in the 200 medley when he stopped the clock in 2:01.80.

Maxime Rooney, who figures to contend for Olympic berths in several events, was quickest in the 100 butterfly, as his swim of 52.13 was well ahead of the 53.56 managed by Bryce Bohman. Caspar Corbeau and Will Licon battled in the 100 breaststroke, with Corbeau winning in 1:01.63, and Licon touching in 1:01.96. Austin Katz was the first-place finisher in the 100 backstroke in 55.60.
