TBS Names Lampley Host For Goodwill Games

Veteran broadcaster Jim Lampley will host TBS Superstation’s 45 hours of cable exclusive prime time Goodwill Games competition coverage (three hours per night), July 19-August 2, of the 1998 Goodwill Games from New York, it was announced by Turner Sports Executive Producer Mike Pearl. TBS, the Games’ host network since 1986, will televise an additional two hours of Opening Ceremonies coverage, Saturday, July 18. “Jim’s vast experience hosting and announcing at major events, including the tremendous job he did for us recently on TNT’s coverage of the ’98 Winter Olympics, makes him a perfect choice,” says Pearl. “With our HBO partners enabling us to utilize Jim’s talents, once again it demonstrates the Time Warner family working together.”
