San Diego Swim Masters Take Down Women ’s 65+ 800 Free Relay National Record

The San Diego Swim Masters team took down a national record at the 2016 SDSM Head 2 Head SCY Relay Meet.
At the meet, held on May 15, Mary Lee Christensen, Diane M Hirakawa, Barbara G Dunbar, and Alta F Stengel posted a time of 11:52.30 in the 800 freestyle relay. That time was a new Women’s 65 and up 800 Freestyle Relay National Record.
Christensen led off the relay with a 2:49.43. Hirakawa stopped the clock in 3:29.89. Dunbar registered a split of 2:31.98. Stengel anchored the record setting swim with a 3:01.00.
The old record was held by the Virginia Masters Swim Team at 12:03.97. Betsy Durrant, Ida Hlavacek, Beth Schreiner, and Barbara Zarameski set the old mark back in 2008.

Yes, great teammates. And, I can go faster! Swam faster all week at practice, but still recovering a tad from kidney transplant. 🙂
