Psych Sheets Released for Commonwealth Games; Action Gets Underway on Friday

The official entry lists for the Commonwealth Games have been released by the event’s organizing committee, with action set to get underway on Friday from the Tollcross International Swimming Centre. The competition will run over six days with prelims, semifinals and finals utilized for the 50-meter and 100-meter events, and a prelims-finals format used for events 200 meters and up.

Some of the biggest names in the sport will compete in Scotland, including home-nation favorite Duncan Scott. The British Olympic medalist will find himself facing off against Olympic mates Matt Richards and James Guy, as the Commonwealth Games has British athletes represent their specific homelands of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Australia will send a powerful squad to the meet, with Lani Pallister and Sam Short racing every freestyle stroke from the 200 through the 1500. Meanwhile, Cam McEvoy and Kyle Chalmers will lead the sprint events for the Dolphins, McEvoy chasing his world record of 20.88 in the 50 freestyle.

For South Africa, Pieter Coetze is expected to put down some impressive performances in the backstroke events. At last summer’s World Championships in Singapore, Coetze medaled in all three backstroke events, highlighted by gold in the 100 distance.

Here are the psych sheets for the Commonwealth Games.
