Nashville’s Ella Nelson Becomes 5th-Fastest 13-and-Under Ever in 200 Breast

Ella Nelson, 13, of the Nashville Aquatic Club just punched her ticket to the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials with a cut time during prelims of the women’s 200-meter breaststroke at the NAC Summer Sizzler.
Nelson clocked a time of 2:31.63 to become the fifth fastest 13-and-under ever in the event’s history, and the fastest 13-and-under American.

[table “” not found /]Nelson still has some time to drop to catch up to Amanda Beard’s 13-14 U.S. National Age Group record of 2:25.75 set as a 14-year-old in 1996.
Nelson also posted a 1:11.80 in the 100-meter breast for second as well as a 4:57.09 in the 400-meter IM during prelims before taking second in finals with a 4:58.75. .

Swimmer, 13, Youngest To Take Gold Medal
EDINBURGH, Scotland, July 26— Allison Higson, a Canadian swimmer, became the youngest gold medal winner in the history of the Commonwealth Games today when she won the women’s 200-meter breast-stroke in 2 minutes 31.20 seconds.
