Kosuke Hagino Questionable For World Championships Due to Elbow Injury
Reigning Swimming World World Swimmer of the Year Kosuke Hagino is the latest in a string of swimmers now injured prior to the World Championships.
According to Yahoo Japan, Hagino suffered a right elbow injury during a training trip to France, and is now back in Japan on a hospital visit to determine whether he will be able to continue to compete this summer.
Last month, Hagino left Japan to competed in a string of European grand prix appearances centered around a French training camp. He was also scheduled to move to altitude training in Spain before then moving to Russia to compete in the World Championships.
Hagino had been a gold medal favorite in the individual medleys, but now could miss the meet entirely.
Hagino is the latest in a long line of people now missing from the World Championships.
Yannick Agnel had to drop out due to pleurisy, while Therese Alshammar sustained a back injury. James Magnussen also dropped out with a shoulder injury.
