Kara Lucenti Sparks Vanderbilt In Tri Meet Win

Vanderbilt got back on track against University of North Florida and Marshall. The Commodores knocked off UNF by a score of 204-57 and Marshall 147-113.

Vanderbilt started off the day with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of backstroker Johanna Goldblatt, breaststroker Kathryn Coughlin, butterflier Breanna Sapienza and freestyler Hannah Martin posted a winning time of 1:46.28.

UNF’s Amy Taylor brought home the victory in the 1000-yard freestyle. She posted a time of 10:16.43.

Vanderbilt’s Summer Brown won the second individual race of the day: the 200-yard freestyle. She posted a time of 1:52.14 to win by over half a second. After Brown’s victory, the Commodores’ Kara Lucenti picked up a win in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.50.

Coming off of a win in the medley relay, Coughlin took the 100-yard breaststroke by nearly two seconds. She posted a time of 1:05.92.

Rachel Koch won the 200-yard butterfly for Vanderbilt. The 20-year-old touched in 2:05.81 to win by under a half second.

Marshall picked up an event win in the 50-yard freestyle. Gloriya Mavrova touched in 24.25.

Brown picked up another win in the 100-yard freestyle. She won by nearly a full second with a time of 52.09.

Marshall’s Madi Pulfer took the 200-yard backstroke. The 19-year-old won by over a second with a time of 2:05.05.

Lucenti took her second event of the day in the 200-yard breaststroke. She won by over five seconds, touching the wall in 2:21.41.

Pulfer continued her strong day with a win in the 500-yard freestyle. She posted a time of 5:02.32.

Sapienza picked up an individual win in the 100-yard butterfly. She touched in 56.22.

The last individual event of the day was the 400-yard individual medley. Caroline Wanner touched first in 4:25.39, winning by nearly five seconds.

Vanderbilt took the 200-yard freestyle relay to conclude the meet. The Commodores posted a time of 1:37.61.
