RIO DE JANEIRO – The International Olympic Committee’s Executive Board is set to propose a change to Rule 40, a rule which currently prevents athletes from promoting non-Olympic sponsors during the Olympic Games, according to an article on Inside the Games.

If approved by the full IOC at its Session in Kuala Lumpur in July, the changes would take effect for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and could allow athletes to display non-Olympic sponsor logos during the Olympic Games.

The Executive Board has also proposed a change to Rule 50 that would allow for larger manufacturer identification on national team kits, while still keeping advertising out of the field of play.
