Full Psych Sheet Available for Tokyo Olympics; Gold Medals on the Line in 35 Events

The full psych sheet for the swimming competition at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo is now available. The Olympics will feature 35 gold-medal finals in the pool over eight days of action (actually nine days since prelims begin in the evening on Saturday, July 24, and the meet will conclude on the morning of Sunday, August 1). American Caeleb Dressel is the only swimmer to be seeded first in three events. Dressel ranks first during the Olympic qualifying period in the 50 freestyle (21.04), 100 freestyle (46.96) and 100 butterfly (49.50). The only other swimmers ranked first in multiple men’s events are Russia’s Evgeny Rylov (100 backstroke and 200 backstroke) and Italy’s Gregorio Paltrinieri (800 freestyle and 1500 freestyle).

Women seeded first across different events for Tokyo include Australia’s Ariarne Titmus (200 freestyle and 400 freestyle) and Kaylee McKeown (100 backstroke and 200 backstroke), the USA’s Katie Ledecky (800 freestyle and 1500 freestyle), China’s Zhang Yufei (100 butterfly and 200 butterfly) and Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu (200 IM and 400 IM).

These are the finals scheduled for each day in Tokyo. Each set of finals will be conducted in the morning, at 10:30 a.m. Tokyo time, which is 9:30 p.m. on the previous day in the United States.

Day one (Sunday, July 25): men’s 400 IM, men’s 400 freestyle, women’s 400 IM, women’s 400 freestyle relay

Day two (Monday, July 26): women’s 100 butterfly, men’s 100 breaststroke, women’s 400 freestyle, men’s 400 freestyle relay

Day three (Tuesday, July 27): men’s 200 freestyle, women’s 100 backstroke, men’s 100 backstroke, women’s 100 breaststroke

Day four (Wednesday, July 28): women’s 200 freestyle, men’s 200 butterfly, women’s 200 IM, women’s 1500 freestyle, men’s 800 freestyle relay

Day five (Thursday, July 29): men’s 800 freestyle, men’s 200 breaststroke, women’s 200 butterfly, men’s 100 freestyle, women’s 800 freestyle relay

Day six (Friday, July 30): women’s 200 breaststroke, men’s 200 backstroke, men’s 200 IM, women’s 100 freestyle

Day seven (Saturday, July 31): men’s 100 butterfly, women’s 200 backstroke, women’s 800 freestyle, mixed 400 medley relay

Day eight (Sunday, August 1): men’s 50 freestyle, women’s 50 freestyle, men’s 1500 freestyle, women’s 400 medley relay, men’s 400 medley relay
