Coaches Corner: How to Improve a Swimmer’s Stroke Length (Video)
Swimming World is glad to welcome back Andrew Sheaff for the latest installment of Coaches Corner. In this edition, Sheaff focuses on the importance of making improvements in stroke length. Enhancing stroke length within athletes is regularly emphasized and Sheaff weighs in on how success can be found in this area while training.
In his latest video, Sheaff discusses the use of a tempo trainer while performing descending sets. He reminds coaches to emphasize efficiency and suggests the strategy can be used in low and high-intensity endurance sets, race-pace sets and sprint sets. Sheaff indicates that working on stroke length can also be accomplished while wearing fins and paddles, and while doing resistance work.
