British Swimming Awarded £240,000 By UK Sport To Offset Financial Impact Of Covid
British Swimming has been awarded £239,500 of extra funding to offset the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
The grant completes the second round of UK Sport’s Continuity Fund with seven sports receiving help following applications for additional assistance based on assessments of the longer-term implications of Covid-19.
The funding from the second round of the Continuity Fund now totals £677,5000. It will be used in a variety of ways by the seven sports including covering existing expenditure and supporting new strategic activities that will enable the sports to adapt to a significantly different operating environment moving forward.
With confirmation of the award to British Swimming, the following NGBs have received grant support via the second round of the Continuity Fund:
- Archery GB – £25,000
- Badminton England – £151,000
- British Fencing – £88,000
- British Mountaineering Council – £69,000
- British Swimming – £239,500
- British Triathlon Federation – £54,000
- England Hockey – £51,000
Sally Munday, CEO at UK Sport, said:
“The pandemic is having a significant impact on Olympic and Paralympic sports in the UK and our priority is to ensure the long-term health of our high-performance community.
“We are determined to play a key role in helping to protect Olympic and Paralympic sport and ensure it continues to thrive long into the future so it is really pleasing to be offering further funding from the Continuity Fund.
“I hope that this second round will provide the vital assistance these six organisations need at this time.”
