Georgia Tech swimming and diving saw a program record fall on Friday when McKenzie Campbell swam the 200 IM in 1:59.79 beating the prior mark set in 2017 of 1:59.88.

Campbell now holds both women’s IM records and also holds the 200 fly program record. Campbell’s time was also good for a B cut in the event.

“I was really excited to race with my teammates, Clarissa [Sabin] and Lily [Burke]. Going into the 200 IM we knew it was going to be a really tight meet so I knew I had to have my best race,” Campbell said.

Competing at the meet were Arkansas and Tulane. Tech beat Tulane 237-63 but fell to Arkansas 154-146.

The Yellow Jackets had many event wins on the day. Campbell’s 200 IM time won that event and she also took home first in the 200 fly (1:56.92), Camryn Hidalgo finished first on 1-meter board (304.85) and Brooke Switzer touched first in the 200 free (1:47.31) and 500 free (4:54.61).

“We’ve had a couple of really hard weeks of training and getting back into school. We were going into this thinking ‘Let’s have some fun and see what we can do.’ All of us suiting up brought a new type of energy. Combing everything and seeing what will happen made it a lot of fun. I think that helped me today,” Switzer said.
