2022 Pac-12 Women’s Championship Day 4: Stanford Claims Conference Title; Regan Smith, Torri Huske Shine

The 2022 Pac-12 Women’s Championship concluded with the Day 4 finals session from Federal Way, Washington, as the Stanford Cardinal claimed the conference championship.

The session included the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly before moving to the early heats of the 1650 freestyle and the 400 freestyle relay.

Regan Smith and Torri Huske claimed victories for Stanford, which swept the relays. Cal’s Isabelle Stadden and USC’s Isabelle Odgers also claimed victories on the final night.

Huske won all three of her individual events and was on four winning relays, earning Swimmer of the Meet honors by the Pac-12.

Pac-12 Women’s 1650 Freestyle

USC freshman Caroline Pennington dropped 12 seconds from her seed time to dominate the mile.

Her time of 15:48.59 was an NCAA “A” cut and was 13 seconds faster than the rest of the field.

Stanford freshman Aurora Roghair was second in 16:01.55, a “B” cut.

Pac-12 Women’s 200 Backstroke

Cal sophomore Isabelle Stadden held on to her top seed and held off a surging Taylor Ruck to claim the Pac-12 title in the 200 backstroke.

Stadden touched the wall in 1:49.51, an NCAA “A” cut.

She held off Ruck by two tenths as the Stanford junior finished in 1:49.73, also an “A” cut.

Stanford went 2-3-4-5 in the event with Ruck, Lucie Nordmann (1:52.51), Samantha Pearson (1:53.67) and Alex Crisera (1:53.81).

Pac-12 Women’s 100 Freestyle

Stanford freshman Torri Huske claimed another Pac-12 title, this time in the 100 freestyle. Huske was out in 10.50 and closed in 12.35 to finish in 47.04, an NCAA “A” cut.

USC senior Laticia Transom finished second in 47.34, a “B” cut, followed by Cal senior Isabel Ivey (46.53) in the star-studded event.

Another Stanford freshman, Anna Shaw, finished fourth in 48.24.

Pac-12 Women’s 200 Breaststroke

USC surged to a stunning 1-2-3 finish in the 200 breaststroke.

Senior Isabelle Odgers won the title in 2:06.42, an NCAA “A” cut, dropping three seconds from her prelims time.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Dobler, who won the 100 breaststroke, took second in 2:06.65, followed by fifth-year Calypso Sheridan (2:06.97).

Stanford seniors Allie Raab took fourth (2:08.20) and Brooke Forde was fifth (2:08.35).

Pac-12 Women’s 200 Butterfly

Stanford freshman Regan Smith dominated to win the 200 butterfly. She touched the wall in 1:50.99, dropping three seconds from her prelims time.

Cal junior Rachel Klinker took second in 1:53.30, followed by Stanford freshman Lillie Nordmann (1:53.92) and Arizona State sophomore Lindsay Looney (1:54.26).

Pac-12 Women’s 400 Freestyle Relay

Stanford finished the meet by sweeping all of the relays, claiming the Pac-12 title in the 400 freestyle relay to close the final night.

Taylor Ruck, Anna Shaw, Regan Smith and Torri Huske won in a time of 3:09.06, an NCAA “A” cut.

USC’s Laticia Transom, Anicka Delgado, Hanna Henderson and Kaitlyn Dobler took second in 3:11.82.

Cal’s Emma Davidson, Isabel Ivey, Elise Garcia and Isabelle Stadden finished third in 3:12.41.
