Women’s 400 IM

Ella Eastin got her name back on top in the women’s 400 IM. Despite performing well over her seed time, Eastin took the top spot, dropping a 4:42.66. Setting up for a tight race tonight, Makayla Sargent chased Eastin throughout, touching in just 0.06 after the top seed with a time of 4:42.66. Katie Ledecky expanded her talents to the stroke event and reserved a lane beside Eastin with a 3:43.81 seed of her own, beating Madisyn Cox (4:45.36) by over a second. Emma Weyant, the wide-eyed seventeen-year-old, proved herself as a force to be reckoned with, forcing herself into the top five with a 4:46.37. Bethany Galat wasn’t far behind, as her closing speed put her within striking distance of Weyant, and her 4:46.51 was good enough for sixth. Brooke Forde slid her way into the top final with a 4:46.72, and she will compete across the pool from Allie Szekely (4:47.38).
