2019 NCSA Junior Championships: Day 5 Finals

For the seventh straight year, Nation’s Capital took home the winning trophy for the combined scores at the NCSA Junior Championships. The five-day meet held at the Orlando YMCA Aquatic Center was exciting and provided swimmers great competition end their short course season. The top finishers in the last nights finals are highlighted below.

Women’s 50 Back

Phoebe Bacon of NCAP took home the win with a time of 24.38. Isabelle Stadden of AQJT was right behind her with a time of 24.53. EBSC teammates Reilly Tiltman and Margaret Wanezek placed third and fourth in 24.72 and 24.78.

Men’s 50 Back

With a winning time of 21.65 Aidan Stoffle of SUMM-GA took home his first gold of the meet.  The entire top heat swam under 23 seconds Jack Dolan  of RSCA touched the wall in 22.07 seconds for a strong second place followed by Wes Jekel of BAC finishing third in a time of 22.38.

Women’s 200 IM

Swimming under the Phillips 66 Senior National time of 1:58.29 was first place finisher Grace Sheble of NOVA in a 1:57.00 and second place finisher Phoebe Bacon of NCAP with a time of 1:57.62. Third place finisher  Felicia Pasadyn of SWIM-LE dropped nearly two seconds to narrowly miss the qualifying time by two one hundredths.

Men’s 200 IM

Shane Blinkman of SCSC placed first with a time of 1:45.77 which was just off his best time and leaves him less than seven tenths of a second off the senior national cut. Second place swimmer Sean Conway of NCAP was also just off his best time but gave the fans a great race. Jason Louser of LIAC swam a fast free split to take the third place finish in a time of 1:47.64. All of the top three finishers swam the final 50 in 25.5 seconds with only hundredths separating their final 50 split.

Women’s 50 Free

The event was fast and furious but no one was able to touch the wall under the Phillips 66 Senior National qualifying time of 22.29. Victoria Huske of AAC was the top finisher, followed by Talia Bates of GSC with Carly Noveline of WILD taking home the bronze from lane 1.

Men’s 50 Free

Topher Stensby of PAC was the only swimmer under the Phillips 66 Senior National time of 19.79. Placing second and just off his best time after swimming a full meet was Jack Dolan of RSCA. Aidan Stoffle of SUMM finished his individual events with a best time of 20.23 dropping more than a half a second to place third.

Women’s 1650

Paige McKenna of NCAP swam her way to another win in 15:55.72. Madison Kolessar of SSC swam a best time of 16:18.95 which leaves her less than one second away from the Phillips 66 Senior National qualifying time of 16:18.09. Rachel Stege of FOX-IL raced her way to third place by out swimming fourth place finisher Brooke Travis of NCAP by two hundredths.

Men’s 1650

Samuel Oliver of SNOW was just over two seconds away from the Phillips 66 Senior National qualifying time of 15:10.09, finishing in a best time of 5:12.66.  Cole Kuster of PVA and Aidan Reagan of FORD both dropped significant time to move into second and third place respectively.

Women’s 400 Medley Relay

The winning relay from Nation’s Capitol made up of Phoebe Bacon, Georgia Johnson, Abigail Hrter and Katelyn Mack, swam to a win in 3:35.67

Men’s 400 Medley Relay

With a time of 3:17.39 seconds, the St Charles Swim Team relay of Calvin Windle, William Myhre, Aleksej Filipovic and Matthew Nagler out swam Long Island and Aquajets by less then one second to win the event.
