2019 ACC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships: NC State Has Huge Morning
The first full morning of the 2019 ACC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships from Greensboro featured the heats of the 500 free, 200 IM and 50 free. The NC State Wolfpack got off to a huge start on this Thursday morning as they are chasing their second team title in three years. They had ten A-finalists advance, which was twice as much as the next school. Louisville (5) and Virginia (3) were second and third in terms of getting swimmers in the A-Finals.

Virginia’s Paige Madden dipped under 4:40 in the 500 free heats with a 4:39.08 for the top spot. She is ahead of NC State senior Anna Jahns (4:39.98) who dipped under 4:40 for the first time in her career as she got the ball rolling for the Wolfpack on Thursday morning in Greensboro.
She is ahead of two sophomores from NC State in Tamila Holub (4:40.92) and Kate Moore (4:41.66) as they sit third and fourth.
Louisville’s Mallory Comerford, who is the heavy favorite to take the title, is fifth at 4:42.25.
Virginia Tech’s Reka Gyorgy (4:43.23), Notre Dame’s Abbie Dolan (4:43.96) and Duke’s Easop Lee (4:44.21) also placed in the top eight.

NC State sophomore Julia Poole posted a solid 1:56.00 in the 200 IM heats as she led a 1-2 with Wolfpack freshman Sophie Hansson (1:56.61). Half the field tonight will be NC State swimmers as Lindsay Morrow (1:58.54) and Jessica Horomanski (1:59.10) qualified for the championship final in sixth and eighth.
Louisville will have two swimmers in the A-Final with Grace Oglesby (1:56.99) putting up the third fastest time and Alina Kendzior (1:58.25) sitting in fifth.
Virginia’s Abigail Richter (1:57.38) and North Carolina’s Caroline Hauder (1:58.75) will also swim in the championship final.

NC State’s Ky-lee Perry posted a swift 21.59 to lead the qualifiers in the 50 free heats on Thursday morning at the ACC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Greensboro. NC State’s 200 free relay is looking to be in good shape with freshman Kylee Alons (21.90) and sophomore Sirena Rowe (22.38) sitting in second and eighth in the championship final.
Louisville will have two in the finals with Avery Braunecker (22.28) and Jillian Visscher (22.30) sitting in fifth and sixth heading into tonight.
Virginia’s Morgan Hill (21.93), Duke’s Alyssa Marsh (22.07) and North Carolina’s Grace Countie (22.31) have also shown a lot of speed throughout the season as it will be a very tight race to get that victory.
