Men’s 200 Backstroke

David Foldhazi of Hungary was the fastest performer this morning, touching in 1:57.69. Poland’s Radoslaw Kawecki stopped the clock in 1:58.41 for second.

Short course European silver medalist Yakov Yan Toumarkin of Israel posted a 1:58.44 to earn tonight’s third seed.

Women’s 200 Freestyle

The Netherlands’ Femke Heemskerk absolutely dominated heat four and posted a 1:57.91 for the top seed, after anchoring her country to bronze in last night’s relay.

Federica Pellegrini of Italy led the first circle seeded heat from start to finish and turned in a 1:57.96 to return as tonight’s second seed.

It was all Charlotte Bonnet of France in the final heat. Her 1:58.54 was good for third entering tonight’s semifinal.

Men’s 100 Butterfly

Hungary’s Laszlo Cseh, last night’s 200 butterfly champion, was the fastest swimmer of the morning, stopping the clock in 52.05.

Italian Piero Codia returns second with his 52.38. Pawel Korzeniowski of Poland was third with a 52.46. His Polish teammate was right on his heels. Defending champion Konrad Czerniak won his heat and posted a 52.48 to enter tonight’s semifinal in fourth.

Women’s 50 Backstroke

Georgia Davies of Great Britain moved from ninth to sixth in the world this year with her prelims time of 27.87.

Denmark’s Mie Nielsen, who just yesterday set the 100 backstroke meet record, was second this morning with a 28.02. Francesca Halsall of Great Britain moves into semis in third with a 28.12.

Men’s 50 Breaststroke

World record holder Adam Peaty moved to first in the world this year with his 26.93. He had been third in the world rankings with his 27.21 from British Championships.

Peter John Stevens of Slovenia turned in a 27.32 to return to tonight’s semifinals as the second seed. That time also moves him to sixth in the world this year. Italy’s Andrea Toniato stopped the clock in 27.37 for third.

Mixed 400 Freestyle Relay

The Netherlands’ Ben SchwietertKyle StolkMarrit Steenbergen, and Maud VD Meer combined for a top seeded 3:26.89. Italy’s Luca LeonardiJonathan BoffaAfalia Pezzato, and Erika Ferraioli posted a 3:28.56, good for second. Sweden finished third this morning as Isak EliassonChristoffer CarlsenLouise Hansson, and Nathalie Lindborg stopped the clock in 3:29.87.

Women’s 1500 Freestyle

Hungary’s Boglarka Kapas rose from the seventh best time in the world this year to third. Swimming in the heat after Mireia Belmone Garcia, she bested the Spaniard’s time by .31, stopping the clock in 16:14.43. That swim makes her the top seed for tomorrow night’s final.

Belmone Garcia touched first in heat one in 16:14.74. She already holds the top time in the world this year with a 16:08.38 from the Spanish Spring Championships.

Her Spanish teammate Maria Vilas Vidal was just behind with a 16:15.50 in heat two. That time now ranks fifth in this year’s world rankings, just faster than her previous 16:17.10.
