West Virginia Secures First 2023 Verbal From Futures Qualifier Delaney Cox

NEW COMMIT: West Virginia University has received their first verbal commitment for the 2023-24 season from Futures qualifier Delaney Rose Cox of Williamsburg, Virginia.

She told Swimming World:

“I am BEYOND excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at West Virginia University! A big thank you to all my coaches, friends, and family for all of your support. I can’t wait to be a mountaineer!! #hailWV #letsgomountaineers”

Cox, who does her club swimming with the Coast Guard Blue Dolphins, finaled in the 200m back at Richmond Futures after taking 10th in that event at Virginia LCM Seniors this past summer. Back in March, she posted three top-18 finishes at the ISCA International Senior Cup.

Her best times include:

  • 100 back – 55.86
  • 200 back – 2:01.00
  • 200 IM – 2:08.73
  • 400 IM – 4:30.05

Cox is currently a junior at Lafayette High School.
