Swim Poll of the Week: What Was Your Favorite Moment in a Freestyle Event at the Olympics?

This is the Swim Poll of the Week for Thursday, August 5, 2021, sponsored by Strechcordz Swim Training Products. In our last poll, we wanted to know: What has been your favorite moment in a freestyle event at the Olympics?

The four Olympic final options from which to choose were the women’s 400 freestyle, men’s 200 freestyle, women’s 1500 freestyle and men’s 100 freestyle. In the women’s 400 free, the United States’ Katie Ledecky held the early lead before Australia’s Ariarne Titmus tracked her down and pulled away on the last lap to win gold, swimming the second-fastest time in history while Ledecky recorded the second-best time of her career. In the men’s 200 free, British swimmers Tom Dean and Duncan Scott overcame Hwang Sun-Woo’s huge early lead to come back and secure gold and silver for their country.

Ledecky captured gold in the inaugural women’s 1500 free final at the Olympics, with fellow American Erica Sullivan surging down the stretch to finish second. And in the men’s 100 free final, Caeleb Dressel finally won his first individual Olympic medal by holding off defending gold medalist Kyle Chalmers in an incredible last 15 meters. That gold would be one of three individual gold medals Dressel won over the course of the week of Olympic swimming?
