With Stanford holding a 16.5-point advantage over Cal heading into the final day of the Pac-12 Conference Women’s Championships, the last morning of prelims will be critical in determining what points will be available during the last session of finals. Here is a look at how the action unfolded on Saturday morning.

200 Backstroke

The first shot of the day was fired by Cal, as Isabelle Stadden led qualifying in the 200 backstroke, and was supported by a pair of teammates in the top four. Stadden put up a time of 1:52.66 to grab the top seed by more than a second and was followed in the No. 2 position by teammate Alicia Wilson (1:53.79), with sophomore Bear Ayla Spitz qualifying fourth at 1:55.21.

Utah’s Audrey Reimer was third in 1:54.72 and Stanford occupied the fifth and sixth spots behind the duo of Alex Crisera (1:55.71) and Janelle Rudolph (1:56.03).

100 Freestyle

The Saturday-morning momentum generated by Cal in the 200 backstroke was taken to another level in the 100 freestyle as the Bears had the four-fastest qualifiers, topped by Isabel Ivey. Coming off victories on Friday night in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke, Ivey clocked in at 47.56 in the 100 free, the only time under 48 seconds.

Taking the second seed for the final was Cal’s Robin Neumann, who went 48.08 and was the winner of the 200 freestyle on Friday night. The Bears watched Eloise Riley qualify third in 48.57, with Elise Garcia going 48.71 for fourth. Stanford was able to place Anya Goeders in the fifth position and Amalie Fackenthal also advanced to the final, taking eighth.

200 Breaststroke

Southern Cal’s Kaitlyn Dobler, already the conference champion in the 100 breaststroke, registered the fastest time of prelims in the 200 breast, as her swim of 2:08.42 was slightly quicker than the 2:08.53 of Stanford’s Allie Raab. Stanford also claimed the third seed for the night session, thanks to Zoe Bartel touching the wall in 2:09.31.

USC’s Isabelle Odgers advanced as the fourth seed in 2:09.79 and Cal got a pair of key performances from Ema Rajic and Ali Harrison, as they qualified fifth and sixth.

200 Butterfly

Concluding what was a tremendous morning for Cal, Rachel Klinker claimed the top seed in the 200 butterfly in 1:54.04, more than two seconds clear of the 1:56.48 by Southern Cal’s Hallie Kinsey. In its quest to reel in Stanford in the team battle, Cal placed 10 athletes in the championship final, with Stanford managing eight. More, Cal’s A-Final qualifiers are more toward the top of the field.

Stanford’s Hannah Kukurugya advanced as the third seed in 1:56.65 while UCLA’s Sam Baron was fourth in a time of 1:58.21.
