Stanford Women Continue to Lead at Speedo Cup -- November 20, 2004
LONG BEACH, Calif. November 20. The Stanford Cardinal women's team continued to lead the UC Irvine Speedo Cup at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach after the second day.
The Cardinal women have 1155.5 points after two days and lead the Oregon State Beavers who are in second place with 697 points.
Stanford picked up wins in the 400 IM (Laura Davis; 4:17.31), 100 fly (Dana Kirk, :54.51), 200 free(Lacy Boutwell; 1:48.68) and 100 breast (freshman Caroline Bruce; 101.75), while the Beavers got a win in the 100 back (Ausra Pacebutaite; :55.58).
The Beavers and Cardinal split the day’s relays as OSU won the 4 x 50 medley at 1:43.64 and Stanford picked up the 4 x 200 free relay at 7:26.61.
The host Anteaters are in fifth place for both the men and the women. The UCI men have 481 points while the UCI women have 411 points.
The UCI/Speedo Cup concludes with finals Saturday at Belmont Plaza.
