NCAA Div. I Women: Texas A&M Drops ULM 160-115

COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Nov. 15. THE number 24-ranked Texas A&M women's swimming & diving team earned its fourth win of the year with a 160-115 defeat of Louisiana-Monroe at the Student Rec Center Natatorium on Friday night.

The Aggies (4-2) won all 14 swimming events, including both relays, in a dominating in-pool performance.

Sophomore Ashley Roark and freshman Adriana Marmolejo each won a pair of events on the evening for the Aggies. Roark, normally a backstroke and medley swimmer, won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:03.81. The sophomore from Austin also won the 200 individual medley in 2:09.40.

Marmolejo won the 100 back, a non-specialty event, in 1:00.60 and the 200 breast, a definite specialty of hers, in a near season best time of 2:20.88.

Junior Alex Baldree won the first inidvidual event of the meet, the 1,000 freestyle, in a time of 10:24.24. Distance swimmer Katie Fancher captured the 200 freestyle in a seasonal-best time of 1:54.72.

Freshman Britney Pesek earned her first collegiate win with a time of 1:06.92 in the 100 breast. Junior Katy Lietzau also earned her first win of the season with a 2:04.89 effort in the 200 fly.

Junior transfer Brittany King beat out sophomore Danielle Townsend 24.26 to 24.41 in the 50 freestyle for her first win as an Aggie. Sophomore co-captain Casey Mucha won the 100 free in 53.91.

Courtney Patterson, the A&M school record holder in the 100 back, just edged out fellow sophomore Dia Rose Gentile, 2:06.46 to 2:06.48, for the win in the 200 back. Junior Millie Reynolds earned one of the Aggies' final wins with a victory in the 100 fly in a near season best time of 57.43.

The Aggies will be back in action at the Pittsburgh Invitational this Friday through Sunay.
