IRVINE, California, August 6. AS displeased as he was with his prelim swim in the 100 free, Michael Phelps was as upset about his performance in the championship final. In this video interview, he talks about misjudging his turn in the 100 free, which didn’t allow him to set up for a chance to catch the leaders at the finish.

Phelps said he was feeling good in the first 50 meters and was hoping for a better place than seventh overall. He said he hopes to be able to swim the event at the Pan Pacific championships and earn a spot outright on the 400 free relay.
