LAS VEGAS, NV – The second day of competition at the UNLV Winter Invitational was highlighted by the performance of Natalie Coughlin of the Terrapins. Coughlin busted the American record in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 52.55, shattering the old mark of 52.71 set by Catherine Fox in March. Coughlin also won the 100 yard butterfly in a time of 52.91.
