University of Houston Hires Dynamo’s Rich Murphy to Replace Augie Busch

HOUSTON, Texas, August 13. DYNAMO Associate Head Coach Rich Murphy will be named the head coach of the women’s swimming program at the University of Houston today. He will replace Augie Busch, who left to take over the helm of the Virginia swimming and diving program.

Murphy, who first joined Dynamo from Auburn University in 2007, has helped grow Dynamo during his time with the team. With the likes of Gunnar Bentz on his squad at Dynamo, the team won the overall team title at the Speedo Junior National Championships last week.

Prior to Dynamo, Murphy helped Auburn to NCAA titles in the 2006-07 season before leaving for Dynamo. Before his stint with the Tigers, Murphy coached at Bowling Green State University as well as volunteered with the University of Michigan and Club Wolverine.

He also served as head coach at Sun Devil Aquatics from 2003-05, and also spent time at Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics and Los Altos Mountain View Aquatic Club.
