U.S. Synchro Divers Finish Seventh at FINA/NVC Diving World Series

DUBAI – The 2015 FINA/NVC Diving World Series continued as the second stop on the circuit began Thursday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Both of the U.S. men’s synchronized teams finished seventh in their respective events, with Troy Dumais (Ventura, Calif./Austin, Texas) and Dwight Dumais (Ventura, Calif./Austin, Texas) competing synchronized 3-meter and Jordan Windle (Morrisville, N.C./Durham, N.C.) and Toby Stanley (Conway, Ark./Durham, N.C.) diving synchronized 10-meter.

The Dumais brothers scored 397.23 points in the 3-meter synchro final, highlighted by 80.85 points points on their reverse 1 ½ with 3 ½ twists in round four.

The top three from last week’s World Series event in Beijing maintained their places a week later in Dubai. China’s Cao Yuan and Qin Kai scored 461.94 points for their second 3-meter synchro gold of the 2015 World Series. Russia’s Evgeny Kuznetsov and Ilya Zakharov picked up another silver medal with 453.66 points, while Germany’s Patrick Hausding and Stephan Feck scored 436.38 for bronze for the second week in a row.

Stanley and Windle placed seventh with 272.61 points, withdrawing after five rounds as Windle could not continue diving due to injury.

China’s Chen Aisen and Lin Yue won for the second week in a row, finishing with 484.23 points. Mexico’s Ivan Garcia and German Sanchez improved their standing and scored 426.27 points for silver in Dubai after winning bronze in Beijing. Hausding and Sascha Klein, last week’s silver medalists, finished with 415.20 and a bronze for Germany.

China also won both women’s synchronized events contested Thursday. The Chinese team won all 10 events in Beijing last week.

David Boudia (Noblesville, Ind./West Lafayette, Ind.) will compete in the individual 10-meter contest Saturday. Boudia won the 10-meter silver medal last week’s World Series event in Beijing.
