Tony Azevedo Repeats as MPSF Water Polo Player of the Year

WOODLAND, Calif., December 4. STANFORD sophomore Tony Azevedo (Long Beach, CA) has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Player of the Year, conference commissioner Al Beaird announced this morning.

Azevedo, a two-time MPSF Player of the Year winner, helped the Cardinal to a 22-5 record this season en route to Stanford earning its 23rd trip to the NCAA Final Four.

Azevedo leads the MPSF and Stanford with 90 goals this season and is averaging 3.5 goals per game heading into the NCAA Championship Tournament this weekend at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles. He broke a Stanford record this past weekend by posting eight goals to bring his season total to 90 goals, a single season school record.
