Toni Davis Diary: Reflections on Athens Paralympics and the Future

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO, October 16. USOC Press Officer Tara Dugan recently forwarded journal entries from Paralympian swimmer Toni Davis reflecting on the Athens experience. Thanks, Toni (and Tara).

Well on September 26th, I swam my last race which was the 50 freestyle. I had my best time in prelims and made it to finals and bettered my time again. Since I did not get any medals that I wanted, I feel that I have to face the world again and I get that chance in 2006 at the World Champs in South Africa and of course Beijing in 2008.

It was great to work with the coaches and the staff I worked with while at the training camps. We went on trips and trained together and I know I have made lifetime connections. The mental pictures I took will stay in my mind forever. I thank God I got a chance to compete against the world's best which very few get to do!

Now I will continue swimming and concentrate on graduate school.
