Thorpe Hopes to Appear on “Friends”

SYDNEY, Oct 9 (Reuters) – AUSTRALIAN triple gold medalist Ian Thorpe, 17, is flying to New York hoping to appear in the sitcom, "Friends."

According to Thorpe's manager, Dave Flaskas, Australian model Elle Macpherson, who has appeared in a cameo role in the sitcom, has offered to help the swimmer achieve his acting goal. Flaskas said Thorpe and fellow Aussie gold medlaists Michael Klim and Grant Hackett would visit the United States this week.

According to Flaskas, Thorpe will appear at the Guggenheim Museum as a guest of Giorgio Armani, who is hosting an event at the Guggenheim to celebrate his 25 years in the fashion world.
