PHOENIX, Arizona, November 15. ONE of the top swimmers in the Class of 2011 has made it official and is en route to Stanford University for college.
Six star David Nolan, who maintains his profile in the Swimming World College Recruit Rankings, is an immediate scoring threat, who could also vie for a national title in the 200-yard IM. Nolan is the only male six-star swimmer in the system this year.
“All of the colleges I considered were amazing and seemed qualified to help me achieve my aspirations, but it came down to one question, ‘Where would I go if something happened and I wouldn’t be able to swim?'” Nolan told Swimming World. “Stanford University was the answer to that question. The academics are outstanding and the coaching staff/team at Stanford are all focused and motivated to achieve greatness.”
Nolan swims for Hershey Aquatic Club and preps at Hershey High. He set the national high school record in the 200-yard IM last season with a 1:43.43 at the Pennsylvania High School State Championships. That time would have put him into the A final at the 2010 NCAA Division I Championships. He also would have qualified for the 100-yard free last year with a swift 43.27.
