Swimming World Magazine Looking to Hire Media and Journalism Interns

PHOENIX, Arizona, May 29. Swimming World Magazine is looking for interns who would like to gain experience in reporting news via print, digital, video or audio media for the 2008-09 academic year.

Now entering its third year, Swimming World’s internship program is beginning to develop a strong track record of placing its interns in excellent positions upon completion of duties with the publication.

Erin Greene, Swimming World’s first intern in the program, has been successful as the Communications Coordinator with USA Swimming. Brian Savard, who just finished his swimming career at Susquehanna University along with two years as part of the internship program, has accepted a position with the University of Redlands as a graduate assistant in the sports information field.

Emily Sampl, who is a journalism student at the University of Colorado has chosen to stay on another year with the internship program.

We are seeking qualified individuals for multiple intern positions to cover Masters, College, Club, World, SwimmingWorld.TV and Swimming World Radio news channels.

Responsibilities include serving as the primary contact for a selected news channel; assisting with other news channel coverage; and editing press releases sent to SwimmingWorldMagazine.com from various public relations entities across the world.

The editorial positions require strong writing skills, flexible hours (including some weekend work) and a working knowledge of the sport of swimming. The video and audio positions also require some experience in video and/or audio production.

This is a semester-to-yearlong, for-credit Internet-based position starting when it best suits the successful candidate’s academic plan. There is no need for relocation.
