SwimMAC Carolina Has Team Lead After Day Two Of East Jr. National Championships

SwimMAC Carolina continued their dominant showing on day two of the East Speedo Winter Jr. National Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. Their combined men’s and women’s squad is now up to 308 team points, nearly 100 points ahead of the second place Bolles School Sharks.

Thursday’s finals began with the women’s 500-yard freestyle. Hannah Cox of Upper Valley Aquatic Club took the event with a time of 4:37.82. Chattahoochee Gold Swim Team’s Lauren Case took second in 4:40.28.

In the men’s event, Tennessee Aquatics’ Walker Higgins earned the gold medal with a time of 4:18.40. His time was less than a half second ahead of silver medalist Trey Freeman.

Nashville Aquatic Clubs’ Alex Walsh took home the title in the women’s 200-yard individual medley – a new National Age Group Record. She posted a time of 1:56.20. Jacob Montague of the Grosse Pointe Gators won the men’s event in 1:46.72.

Pine Crest Swimming’s Marta Ciesta won the women’s 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.52. In the men’s event, Michael Jensen of Upper Dublin Aquatics took home the gold medal with a time of 19.85.

The night concluded with the men’s and women’s 400-yard medley relays.

In the women’s event, Lakeside Swimming won with a time of 3:36.61. The team consisted of backstroker Asia Seidt, breaststroker Kennedy Lohman, butterflier Brooke Forde and freestyler Brooke Bauer. After two relay wins yesterday, SwimMAC Carolina took the silver medal. Nashville Aquatic Club touched third to win the bronze medal.

The Bolles School Sharks won the men’s relay. The team of backstroker Andy Song An, breaststroker James Daugherty, butterflier Ariel Spektor and freestyler Tyler Rice posted a winning time of 3:14.51. Upper Dublin Aquatic Club finished in second place and Dynamo Swim Club took third. 

The 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard freestyle relay will be held tomorrow. Preliminaries will begin at 9 a.m. and finals will start at 5 p.m.
