MALMO, Sweden, September 21. SWEDISH breaststroker Emma Igelstrom has returned to competitive swimming. Igelstrom holds the world record in the 50 meter breaststroke (sc) and the European records in the 50, 100 and 200 meter breaststroke (sc).
Igelstrom had taken a 6-month break to address bulimia issues. She had been expected to challenge for podium positions in the breaststrokes in Athens before this condition led to an alternate path.
Igelstrom had erupted onto the international scene, primarily in short course venues, as a truly unique talent. She smashed world records with apparent ease before the rest of the world learned she faced tougher demons than the FINA world marks.
