Splashbacks: Michael Phelps, Shallow Water Blackout Top Stories in May-June 2015
Michael Phelps once again claimed the lion’s share of the top read stories on SwimmingWorld.com during the May-June time period this past year. During the next few days, we’ll take a look back in “Splashbacks”, the most read stories of 2015.
Meanwhile, two of the top stories in the sport all year also took place. Phelps’ coach Bob Bowman continued to champion the cause of swimmers being much more aware of Shallow Water Blackout, having lost swimmer Louis Lowenthal at NBAC in 2012 when he stayed after practice to put in some extra work and wound up drowning.
Additionally, Schuyler Bailar broke the story with Swimming World that he would be the first openly transgender NCAA Division 1 swimmer.
