Speedo Performance of the Week, Presented by Pace Club: March 26, 2013

PHOENIX, Arizona, March 26. WE had to wait until the third day of competition at the women's NCAA Division I swimming and diving championships to see an American record, and we got two of them. Very few will argue that Elizabeth Pelton's 1:47.84 in the 200 back was the swim of the meet, one of the reasons why Pelton was awarded the swimmer of the meet award. Pelton took the race out fast, in 53.09, then back in 54.75 to break the American record in the event for the third time this season.

Pelton will be one to watch not only this summer in the long course season, but also over the next three years, as she tries to become the first swimmer to win the 200 back four times at the NCAA championships. It will be a tall order, but Pelton appears to have the ingredients needed to make it happen.

Congratulations, Liz. You've won the Speedo Performance of the Week.
