TUCSON, Arizona, October 16. Santa Clara Swim Club’s Sarah Shimomura, the 22nd-ranked swimmer out of the state of California in Collegeswimming.com‘s 2015 recruit rankings, will continue her swimming career next year at the University of Arizona after verbally committing to the Wildcats.

Shimomura, a senior at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, is a strong freestyler and can help the Wildcats in every event from the 50 to the mile. She’s knocking on the door to a few Olympic Trials cuts in the 50m free (27.08), 100m free (57.16) and 200m free (2:02.97), while her 500 free (4:50.12) and 1650 free (16:59.50) in yards stand out as well.

Her best time in the 200 free (1:48.64) would have made the C final at last season’s Pac-12 Championships, while her converted time in the 100 free would’ve place in the top 24 as well.
