ANN ARBOR, Michigan, November 17. THE initial Pro Dual Meet 1 event came to a conclusion as the Professional Swimming League kicked off its existence with a successful two-day long course meter outing. In the end, East beat West, 220-191, in the dual meet format.

West's Charlie Houchin captured the sole middle distance event of the meet with a 3:52.08 in the 400 free. East's Jean Basson placed a distant second in 3:57.56. East's Barry Murphy clipped West's Alex Hetland, 28.12 to 28.16, in the 50 breast for the win.

East continued to put together winning swims as Eugene Godsoe checked in with a 25.68 to win the 50 back. West's Darian Townsend, already a two-time winner yesterday, finished second on 26.05.
