Pan-Am Swimming May Be Canceled

March 16. CONSTRUCTION delays could force the cancellation of the swimming competition at the up-coming Pan-American Games in the Dominican Republic, according to Jamaica's Michael Fennell, second vice president of the Pan-American Sports Organization.

Soccer, gymnastics and volleyball may also be cancelled, Fennell said, because most of the Pan-Am stadiums are still under construction.

No alternative plans for the staging of these sports have been proposed.
