NEW COMMIT: Dylan Sweikert, a senior at Palo Verde High School in Los Vegas, has verbally committed to Cal Baptist University. Sweikert swims for the Sandpipers of Nevada. He covers the full range of freestyle events. His top two USA Swimming power points actually come from opposite ends of the spectrum: the 100 and 1650 free. Sweikert’s best SCY times are:

  • 1650 Free 16:12.33
  • 1000 Free 9:37.38
  • 500 Free 4:42.27
  • 200 Free 1:43.75
  • 100 Free 47.35
  • 50 Free 21.84

Sweikert is the defending Nevada state champion in the 100 freestyle. The Palo Verde team took home the women’s and men’s 4A state crowns last year. Sweikert was a leader of that effort, touching in 47.60 for gold in the 100 free. He also finished fourth in the 50 free (22.00) in an incredibly close final. He also anchored the team’s 200 freestyle relay and the winning 400 freestyle relay.

Sweikert should be in contention to continue picking up hardware in college. At the 2017 RMAC Championships Sweikert would have touched fourth in the mile. Cal Baptist was second, third, and fifth in that event. Tanner Shore (16:11.14) and Josh Fluetsch (16:16.50) will be seniors in Sweikert’s first year.

Sweikert shared,

“I picked CBU because of the great team atmosphere and work ethic. Cal Baptist has amazing facilities as well as a team of staff members that really care about my success as a swimmer and as an adult.”
